Evaluating the assumed qualifying marks for JEE Advanced is possible by considering the statistical data of the JEE Main 2024.
Appearing for the JEE Advanced is not simple as it appears to be, an aspirant must have scored at least 75 percent marks in 12th Grade and even fall within the eligibility criteria. What is the eligibility criteria for JEE Advanced? The JEE Main marks are segregated into category wise and the cut-off marks, or percentile are published every year. An aspirant can belong to general category, economically backward community, scheduled caste or scheduled tribe. Every year, the cutoff marks or percentile keeps changing and for an approximation, the previous year’s cutoff is taken into account. However, if you are qualified for the JEE Advanced then May 2, 2025 is the last date for the submission of the JEE 2025 application. This year JEE Advanced is conducted by IIT (Kanpur).
National Testing Agency, NTA has published the eligibility criteria of the JEE Advanced and an aspirant can obtain the essential guidelines for it.
Technically speaking, if the aspirant’s rank lies somewhere from the first position to 2,50,000 position in the JEE Main 2025 exam then one is eligible to apply for the JEE Advanced 2025.
Another measurable aspect is,the aspirant of the 12th grade must have obtained a minimum of 75 percent in the board exam, and if the aspirant belongs to the reserved sections of society, then the aspirant must have scored at least 65 percent.
JEE Advanced 2025 Attempts: It has changed as an aspirant is eligible to take this exam only twice in consecutive years.
Nationality Matters: An aspirant may be residing abroad though an Indian citizen, or PIOs, or OCIs then too, NTA makes it eligible for taking exams.
NTA has mentioned the age limit for the JEE Advanced 2025 and it varies depending on the category a candidate belongs to. The aspirant must be born on or after October 01, 2000. And, for the categories of SC, ST, and PwD, the aspirant should have been born on or after October 01, 1995. It means these categories have received a relaxation of 5 years.

In 2025, NTA is most likely to declare the results that include the aspirant's rank, percentile and the aspirant’s position of percentile in the ongoing competition. According to the category that an aspirant belong to, NTA will screen 10 percent of the general quota, GEN- EWS ( 10 %), Open ( 40.50 %), Scheduled Tribe ( ST) ( 7.50 %), Scheduled Caste (SC) (15%), PWD ( 5% Horizontal Reservation), and OBC & NCL ( 27%). If the aspirant rank falls within the percentage of the selected ones and well above the specified cutoff marks, percentile then the aspirant is eligible for the JEE Advanced

The qualifying marks for JEE advanced will take an aspirant to take the JEE Advanced 2025 examination. After the JEE Advanced 2025, NTA shall release two levels of scores relating to the cut-off marks, They are the qualifying cutoffs, and admission cutoffs. The qualifying cutoff means the minimum marks a candidate must obtain to apply for admissions in any of the 24 IITs. And, the admission cutoffs are the marks that a candidate is expected to obtain to seek an admission in a specific IIT for a particular branch.
Factors that Affect the JEE Advanced Cutoff Score:
JEE Advanced Cutoff score is dependent on several factors and hence one can find a variation in its values. Certain broadly classified factors include the previous year’s cutoff scores, cutoff trends, the aspirants participating in the JEE Advanced, and the difficulty levels of the question papers. Above all, two important issues are the individual performance of the candidate, and the total number of seats available at a given IIT center.
It is estimated that about 2,50,000 candidates shall be eligible to attempt the JEE Advanced 2025. An aspirant can take JEE Advanced only on obtaining the qualifying marks for the JEE Advanced.
Aspirants studying 12th grade can appear for Session 01 before completion of their board exams, and if necessary, can take another attempt in the session 02.
The same rule applies for the aspirants who are attempting in the second consecutive year, they too are allowed to participate in the two sessions, 01, & 02.
Aspirants will have to get through a screening test for JEE Advanced. First, the aspirant must make an attempt and get qualified for the JEE Main, and then based on the JEE Cutoff Score in the category wise, the aspirant is prompted to take the JEE Advanced Examination. It means one must get through the JEE advanced qualifying marks.
