NEET 2025 Exam Pattern Reverts to Pre-COVID Question Format

NTA has made changes in the NEET 2025 Exam Pattern and it is reverted to the pre-covid times.  

The National Testing Agency, NTA, took up the responsibility of conducting the national level exams and it is entrusted by the National Medical Commission, NMC. Recently, on January 25, 2025, the National Testing Agency has released an important notification regarding the question paper pattern. Due to Covid in 2020, the NEET entrance examination was revised with changes to make it suitable for students. Now, the NTA has decided to revert the pre-covid format. That means, the examination shall be conducted with the question paper pattern as conducted in the years preceded 2020. In the existing years, Section B was included to benefit the NEET candidates and from NEET 2025 onwards the pattern shall revert. 

NEET 2025 Exam Pattern 

A candidate appearing for the NEET 2025 exam pattern will have to take 180 questions and the breakdown will be as follows. The NEET candidate will be required to answer questions from Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. The physics and chemistry paper will contain 45 questions, and biology will comprise 90 questions. Candidates can download the hall ticket on the official website.

 In 2024, the NEET 2024 exam was conducted in the afternoon session from 2:00 pm to 05:20 pm and a similar schedule is expected in NEET 2025 Exam as well. 

NEET 2025 Registration Process: 

As per the registration procedures, the candidate must enter the application form and then upload the essential documents. Once the application is completed online, one must make the payment of the NEET UG 2025 application fee, and then click to submit the application. In the end, the applicant can make the PDF and the fee payment thereby take the download of the payment receipt.  

NEET UG Registration 2025 : Procedure to Apply online 

NTA has opened an online portal link for the candidates to apply for NEET 2025 examination. The application procedure is made simple and is as follows.

  • A candidate must visit the official website: (neet.nta.nic.in) for NEET UG registration 2025.
  • The student must click the NEET UG 2025 link that leads to the online application form. 
  • After filling the application form, the applicant must pay the registration fees and then click on submit button. 
  • The candidates are advised to save in PDF and take a download, a hardcopy as a reference.

Following are the documents required to upload in the NEET UG registration form 2025:

  • Aadhar Card
  • Marksheet of 10th grade, and 12th grade
  • Scanned thumb impressions 
  • Signature
  • Photograph
  • Scanned pictures of thumb impressions
  • Category Certificate, Domicile Certificate, and a Valid ID proof

NEET 2025 Question Paper Pattern & Marking System : 

The NEET Question Paper Pattern has a systematic marking system that comprises the rule in the following manner. 

  • The marking scheme states that for every question carries 4 marks and they are awarded according to the evaluation of questions. Every question carries 4 marks, for a correct answer, 4 marks are awarded, for an incorrect answer, 1 mark will be deducted. For an unattempted question, no marks will be deducted. 
  • NEET Question Paper Pattern contains multiple options deemed correct then 4 marks will be awarded for the selection of the correct options or any of the chosen correct options.   
  • If all the options provided for a question are correct, then 4 marks will be awarded to those attempting such a question. 

Procedure to Fill the OMR Sheet of NEET 2025: 

Any candidate attending the NEET 2025 will have to follow the rules mentioned in the OMR Sheet:

  • The answers must be marked on the OMR sheet by using black or blue ball pen. 
  • A candidate must select the answer and make the circles dark 
  • The candidate must avoid darkening the multiple circles for a question otherwise the candidate will be awarded with negative marking. 
  • The OMR sheet should not be used to perform rough work. 
  • Once marked answers in the OMR must never be changed. Do not forget to mark the text booklet code on the space provided on the NEET OMR sheet 2025.

In NEET 2025, the NTA has made modifications in the exam pattern which reverts to the previous pattern prior to NEET 2020. It means that the inclusion of the optional questions of Section B during the Covid-19 has been removed from the upcoming NEET 2025 examination.

NEET 2025 examination shall be scheduled in the first week of May 2025 and the entire exam schedule will be executed in a single shift.
