HOW TO AVOID BURN-OUT DURING NEET / JEE PREPARATION AND BE PRODUCTIVE?

Being an aspirant of NEET/JEE, India’s one of the most difficult exams is not easy. To beat the heavy competition, every student should invest hours of time in reading, practicing and revising. It not only takes immense effort, perseverance but also demands continuous practice. Having these prerequisites is a major challenge for any student. While doing so, students face many struggles that cause a burn out situation.

This article addresses those situations and gives a clear picture of causes that lead to burn out and suggests solutions to avoid stress and to improve productivity.

Seeds that Create Burn out:

  • Comparison: Many students tend to compare their level of preparation with the best in class. This peer pressure would make the student restless and compels him to sit on the subjects back-to-back.
  • Unrealistic Goals: Having an unrealistic goal would make students think unconventionally and beyond their beliefs. When they fail to do so, it creates a disappointment that increases stress.
  • Lack of Sleep: Completing the syllabus, MCQs and mock tests create an inconspicuous pressure on a student’s mind. To finish the tasks, students compromise with their sleep. It creates fatigue which disturbs the entire schedule.
  • Monotonous Preparation: Studying the same subject for a long number of days is not an effective strategy. But students tend to think of completing the subjects only one after the other. Though the first few days are productive, due to the monotony, students slowly lose their interest. It causes delay in the preparation and disturbs the preparation.

How to avoid Burn-out?

  • Believe in yourself: When you believe in yourself, half the battle is already won. Instead of feeling depressed after comparison, one must believe in their efforts and plan accordingly.
  • 6-8 hours of Sleep: Sleep is the natural rejuvenation for every human. Though many students think of sleep as a wastage of time, it gives much needed energy to our body that helps to catch-up with our work. Scientifically, it is proven that even small naps are very effective to reduce stress.
  • Guidance: Mentors are the people who understand your pace in the preparation and advise accordingly. As they had already experienced stressful situations many years before, their advice would be more practical. Here students can either talk to the faculty or the parents who know the person well.
  • Realistic Plan: Planning is the most crucial stage of preparation. A realistic plan consists of a proper timeline of preparation with intricate details. Ex: Number of days for each subject, MCQs and mocks…

For the proven strategies and plans students can refer to…

  • Treat yourself: One must acknowledge their efforts putting in the preparation. After meeting every goal, students should treat themselves. It acts as an encouragement for future efforts.
  • Exercise: Physical fitness will always compliment mental fitness. So, it is advised to take some time to exercise. Even a small walk in the middle of preparation would keep students healthy.

When a student enrolls for NEET, he knew that he signed up for a hard journey. To get through this, instead of taking too much at once and overwhelming yourself, break things down and take one action at a time. Resonance Hyderabad being a pioneer in NEET and JEE coaching has covered all the issues at.
